Car
Insurance Urban Legends
There are many urban
legends when it comes to car insurance,
because most people who do not work in the
auto insurance field do not have a basic
understanding of what they can be
penalized for and what they can’t be.
Therefore people are always trying to
avoid calling their insurance companies
for fear that their car insurance will go
up or they will get dropped.
However, sometimes you should call your
car insurance company, and not try to pay
for it out of your own pocket. Perhaps you
are driving down a road and the car or
truck in front of you pops up and stone
and it hits your windshield and chips it.
Many think that their car insurance will
not cover it – but that is not true. They
will cover it, as it comes under the
comprehensive coverage in your car
insurance policy. There will be a
deductible, but it is covered. Some
states, like Florida, don’t even charge a
deductible for it.
Another thing people don’t know is how to
get better rates on their car insurance
when their youngsters start driving. Send
your child to an accredited driver’s
training course and their car insurance
rates will be lower than someone who did
not attend. Plus, you need to let them
drive as much as possible, for the only
way they will get much needed experience
is to actually drive.
Many people think getting tickets of any
kind will drive up their rates as well –
not true. Car insurance companies do not
car about parking tickets, they only care
about speeding or other driving related
tickets. If you get points on your
license, you will also get points on your
car insurance which will increase your
rates. So drive safely and you won’t have
to worry about that one. Drive like a
crazy person, and you will pay for it –
literally.
