Auto Loan Modification Warning

 
There is a new scam in town that goes by the name of auto loan modification. There are many ads on television now for these companies that are promising you extra money each and every month because you will have gone through this modification program with your auto loan, but experts and the Better Business Bureau are warning you against going that route.
 
The problem is that these auto loan companies are focusing their attention on the people who may not understand what all is involved in taking on the modification. They promise them lower payments, but in most cases that only means that they have spread out their auto loan over an even longer period of time – leaving them paying even more for the car than they would have if they had not changed their auto loan at all.
 
Not only that, but the BBB is warning that there are a lot of these companies that are simply taking money and not doing anything for the auto loan at all. There are reports of people paying money up front for the auto loan modification process and then they simply disappear with their money. This of course only serves to make it more difficult for those that are already having financial difficulties. The BBB says to please not give out any information or money to these companies – as they will only make your situation worse. Instead, they say that calling your auto loan company and seeing what they might be able to do for you is the better route to take.
