Gasoline
Only One Expense
As gasoline prices rise,
many wonder how they will be able to
afford to drive their cars for much
longer. Everything having to do with a car
has become so expensive; some cannot
afford to take theirs out of their
driveway. But gasoline is not the only
expense.
Car maintenance, oil changes, etc. have
all increased as has car insurance
policies – which have many customers very
upset. They argue that with people driving
less because of the price of gasoline that
auto insurance pricing should be coming
down. They say that there has to be fewer
drivers on the roads, thus fewer
accidents, and that the auto insurance
companies are overcharging them for their
policies.
The auto insurance companies say that this
is not necessarily true. There may be
fewer accidents right now, but for that to
start making a significant difference in
the price of policies customers are going
to have to wait. They say that an incident
such as this takes longer to trickle down
to auto insurance policies and that they
are still paying out the same amount.
Some states disagree. They are either flat
out rejecting the auto insurance companies
attempts to raise rates, or they are
investigating them and making them prove
why they either need the increase or
justify why they are charging what they
are. Experts say that they might be
currently still paying on policies, but
eventually if things continue the way they
are, the auto insurance companies are
going to have to change their rates or run
the risk of drivers just not purchasing
it.
