Georgia
Auto Insurance Rates Rise
As if gas prices weren’t
enough to make you want to get rid of your
car, now Georgia has raised auto insurance
rates as well. The state has passed a new
law that injures those that currently have
car insurance, and prevents many from
being able to get it at all.
The new law does not require auto
insurance companies to get state approval
before they raise their rates on their car
insurance premiums. The law allows the
auto insurance companies to raise or lower
rates at will, which of course means that
they will – and they did.
According to InsuranceQuotesUS.com,
Georgia residents have seen a sudden
increase in their car insurance rates. On
average, residents have seen a 7% increase
to their existing auto insurance policies.
For some drivers considered high risk,
they have seen their rates double – and as
it is mostly the elderly and teen drivers,
they can ill afford the increase.
However, some auto insurance companies
have not raised their rates. Experts say
that it would behoove those that have seen
an increase in their auto insurance to
change their policies. They should be
shopping around to see what they can get
instead, at a lower rate. They say that
some auto insurance companies have not
changed their underwriting criteria and
premium rates, while others have only
increased them minimally.
These are the companies that residents
should be putting their policies with, for
these are the companies that probably care
about their policyholders. The other auto
insurance companies are aware that they
can increase rates and there is nothing
their policyholders can do about it. That
is where they would be wrong, for they can
always go somewhere else.
