Auto Insurance Rates Rising

There are many that are struggling to make ends meet in this economy, and there are some in our government that are trying to make that battle just a little easier. They have put freezes on car insurance rate increases to ensure that those that need auto insurance can afford it. The problem is that many of the auto insurance companies are not as willing to help out.

Across the country there are auto insurance companies trying to raise their rates as they say that there are higher expenses than there is money coming in. They say that they are paying out in claims much more than they are bringing in from premiums so they need to raise their auto insurance rates.

However, a large portion of that has to do with the fact that because of the economy many people are not able to afford their auto insurance payments. We are now seeing a large portion of drivers on the road that have had to drop their auto insurance because they just can’t afford to keep it up. That means that when they get into an accident, the person who has car insurance has to pay instead of the person who may have caused the accident.

This causes those that have auto insurance to have to pay more for their policies because they are making up the slack for those that can not afford it. Instead of raising rates for their existing customers and possibly causing them to drop their auto insurance as well, they may want to consider dropping their rates and making it much more affordable for everyone so that at least they have something coming in.
