Non Owner Auto Insurance
There has been talk lately of non owner
auto insurance and not everyone is sure
exactly what it is. There are people who
wonder if they should have it or not and
it really comes down to one basic
principle – if you have a car you can’t
get it, and if you don’t you might want
to.
Truly, non owner auto insurance is just
what it sounds like. It is for those
people who need auto insurance because
they drive, but they do not own a car.
It depends on where you live if you can
even get it, and the benefits from it
are rather limited. Many people think
that if they don’t have a car they don’t
need auto insurance but this is not the
case. If you drive on a regular basis
you have to have auto insurance.
The auto insurance policy covers you for
anything that happens while you are
operating a motor vehicle. Let’s say you
borrowed or rented a car and were in an
accident – this auto insurance would
cover the damages, etc. caused by the
accident if it was your fault. If you
are self employed and end up having to
drive cars or vans from time to time,
you might need to get a commercial
liability auto insurance policy to cover
you.
If you cause any kind of an accident
while you were operating a car that does
not belong to you, you should have non
owner auto insurance so that you can be
covered. The best thing you can do is to
go to an auto insurance agency and see
what kind of coverage you should have
for driving a car in the state that you
reside.
