New Law for Wisconsin Drivers
Wisconsin Drivers are none too happy
these days with the recent changes to
their auto insurance rates. Currently it
is not against the law to not have car
insurance, but that all changes come
June 1st. Then it becomes required by
law to have auto insurance if you have a
car.
But many say that this won’t change
things much, because for most of the
people who don’t have car insurance now
it isn’t that they don’t want it – it is
that they can’t afford it. And rates are
going up for auto insurance – which
means that even though it is a law –
there are even more people who won’t be
able to afford it.
The auto insurance companies say that
they are not expecting a large line of
people at their door asking for policies
as they know that most people won’t get
it even though it is a law. They say
that maybe one in a hundred will go out
and get auto insurance now, but that is
about it. They also say that since auto
insurance companies are so competitive
out there that there might be a way to
get a cheaper policy if you do your
research but it is still going to be
tough for some people.
Residents are split on the issue. It
seems that those that have auto
insurance are glad because now they
don’t have to worry about other
uninsured drivers, but those without it
say that in this economy to require
someone to have auto insurance you are
setting them up for failure that they
can’t afford.
