Auto Insurance Will be on the Ballot
There are
some states that really want to see
their drivers have auto insurance. Now,
every state wants their drivers to have
auto insurance, but some states are very
good about really pushing their drivers
to get it. They find ways of rewarding
them and getting them the best deals
that they can. California is one of
those states, and as a result more than
82% of all residents have auto
insurance. That is a very high number,
especially in this economy.
But now the state is taking is one step
further. The Californians for Fair Auto
Insurance Rates has just gotten
permission from the Secretary of State
to offer the Continuous Coverage Auto
Insurance Discount Act for the June 8th
Primary Election Ballot. This group is
trying to get discounts for drivers that
have continuously had auto insurance
coverage.
Under the current law auto insurance
companies have the ability to offer this
to their clients if they choose to do
so. It is often called a loyalty
discount, but it only works if you stay
with one auto insurance company. What
they want to see is if you move from
auto insurance agent to another auto
insurance agent that you have the
ability to take your discount with you.
The way the law reads now it is not
possible to do that, and you are left to
the mercy of your auto insurance company
if you choose to offer it or not.
The new law would make the auto
insurance discount portable which
benefits consumers in many ways. Not
only would they get to take their
discount with them, but it would also
result in increased competition for your
business which lowers rates and premiums
for their clients.
