What Do You Have to Have?
When it comes to auto insurance, most
people really don’t understand what they
have to have. The amount of deductibles,
the amount of coverage, what is gap
insurance, etc. – all equal a headache
for the auto insurance patron. So how
are you supposed to know what you need
and what you don’t?
The first thing you need to do is some
homework on your auto insurance policy
to see what you currently have. There is
a possibility that you don’t have
everything you need, or that you have
more than what you need. If you have
very high deductibles and are still
paying a lot for your auto insurance
than you are probably getting soaked by
your agent.
Florida auto insurance policy says that
if you have a car, you have to have auto
insurance. You want liability insurance
obviously so that if you are in an
accident and it is your fault, your auto
insurance company will pay to have their
car fixed. If you injure someone – your
auto insurance company will pay their
medical bills, etc. Liability is very
important on your auto insurance policy.
It is up to the individual as to how
much they take out, but they are going
to want to make sure that it is
significant so that they are completely
covered if something happens. Usually
they say that it should be a minimum of
$10,000 as this is the required base for
the auto insurance policy in the state
of Florida.
If you have PIP, or Personal Injury
Protection it pays for those people who
are injured in your car when you are in
an accident. This is also mandatory in
the state of Florida where you must have
at least $10,000 in coverage. Not every
state requires it.
You will also want collision damage to
pay to repair the car- unless the damage
is more than 80% of the car. Then they
total it and give you a check. No matter
what policy you go with, you are going
to want to talk to an auto insurance
agent to make sure that you are getting
what you need at the best price. Do some
comparison shopping and you will be
amazed at what you can find.
