Auto
Insurance Reform Advocate
Richard Halpern, a
staunch supporter of auto insurance
reform, has been elected President of the
Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA).
The association’s annual general meeting
in Toronto was held on May 26th of this
year, at which time Halpern was elected to
the position.
Halpern is usually on the side of the
injured person in medical malpractice and
automobile accident cases, and has thereby
had a lot of experience dealing with auto
insurance claims. He has been very vocal
in advocating reform of the auto insurance
industry in Ontario and firmly supports
and promotes the idea of innocent accident
victims getting fair and reasonable
compensation.
Halpern has been published on numerous
occasions regarding auto insurance reform,
has lectured, and has enlisted others to
help him in his quest for auto insurance
reform. He has taken it to Queen’s Park on
several occasions, and wants the OTLA to
assist him in his attempt to improve auto
insurance. He believes that residents
deserve better coverage and continues in
the quest to get it.
Halpern is a partner at Thomson Rogers in
Toronto, completing his undergraduate work
at University of Toronto, law degree at
University of Windsor, and Masters Degree
in Law from Osgoode Hall Law School.
