Most
states require that you have
auto insurance on your car,
truck, or van. Most banks
require auto insurance before
you receive an auto loan.
Depending on the price paid
for a used car, you should ask
about full coverage insurance
prices. Laws differ from
state to state. The sites listed
below will help you with the
laws in your state and give
you free quotes.
The North Carolina House
has passed a law that will start cracking
down on car insurance holders. There are
many car insurance holders that have auto
insurance in the state of North Carolina,
but do not actually live there. They do it
because the rates in the state are lower
than other states.
However, those that have the car insurance
illegally would not be facing a felony for
“rate evasion.” Those out-of-state
residents that are falsely claiming in
state car insurance rates will be in for a
rude awakening when they are caught. They
will be quite literally guilty of a felony
offence.
The Department of Insurance has been
trying to get the bill passed after
residents cried fowl at people getting
their auto insurance rates. They say that
people from the high-premium states have
been cheating the system by giving false
information as to where they live.
The bill was unanimously approved in the
House and is now headed to the Senate
where it is expected to pass as well. If
caught, they would be found guilty of a
low grade felony classified as
“intentionally attempting to deceive an
insurer” and puts some of the onus on the
insurance companies as well, for they are
required to validate where people live now
as well.
