GMAC Auto
Insurance Buying Provident Financial
GMAC Insurance has
announced that they will be purchasing the
auto insurance division of Provident
Financial PLC. GMAC Insurance is the
insurance division of GMAC Financial
Services, and Provident Insurance is the
UK based auto insurance division of
Provident Financial. The buying of this
section of their company will enable their
company to grow substantially in the UK
and European market.
The buyout is subject to approval, but
there does not seem to be any reason why
it would not go through. The SVP of GMAC
said that by adding the auto insurance
portion of Provident they would enable
them to get into the auto insurance market
in UK, and that they plan on expanding
throughout Europe from there.
Providence auto insurance specializes in
non-comprehensive coverage, female drivers
and second cars. These are all non-high
risk auto insurance groups, which makes
the auto insurance package all that much
more attractive.
GMAC Insurance also handles auto insurance
with a focus on physical damage, liability
coverage, extended warranties, and
wholesale floorplan auto insurance. They
also hold other auto insurance companies
in Mexico, Sweden, Bermuda, and a Car Care
Plan in the UK.
