Places
to Go for Financing
When looking into an auto loan, most
people wonder what their real options
are. They think that they have to go to
the dealership and get a loan through
them not realizing that there really are
a ton of other places that you can look.
Instead of the dealership you can go to
a credit union. If you are lucky enough
to have an account with one they will
give you an auto loan as well as a lower
interest rate to go along with it. You
can go to your local Bank of America,
Wachovia, etc. and ask for a personal
auto loan as well from your bank. They
will usually give you better rates and
terms than the dealership as well,
although not usually as good as the ones
from the credit union.
There are also sub prime auto loan
companies that can help you if you have
bad credit. They will charge you a much
higher interest rate though, and usually
additional fees that a normal lender may
not charge you. Usually it is best, if
you can, to wait until you can afford to
put down more money or have a better
credit score so that you are not going
to one of these companies.
Then there are private auto lenders
where either the person you are
purchasing the car from, or a group of
people who invest in other people get
together and offer auto loans. This is
sometimes good because they are willing
to work with whatever kind of credit you
have, and they are flexible on terms and
interest. However, remember that they
don’t invest for free, so keep that in
mind.
And finally there are online auto loan
companies. This is convenience in a
package. You can go online; fill out the
information usually with one hunting
company who will then seek out several
different lenders for you. You can sit
in your living room and let the offers
come to you. This is by far the most
convenient, and sometimes the best deal
as well.
