Find-a-Car
Credit Info Inaccurate
Kingston’s
Find-a-Car is under investigation by the
police as it seems that they may have been
forging documents and credit applications.
Both kinds of paperwork have been found to
contain false information, which was found
during a search police made of the
premises.
The company and its president, Ryan
O’Connor, as well as several other
employees, are listed in the warrant. It
states that several major financial
institutions, as well as consumers, were
defrauded by the company. The warrant
states that the company got more than
$5,000 in illegal car loans and other
illegal paperwork.
The police searched the premises and came
up with documentation, although no charges
have been filed. The Ontario Motor Vehicle
Industry Council is revoking the company’s
license because of “a serious breach of
several provincial regulations."
O’Connor is maintaining his innocence, but
the warrant says that his employees have
been earning more money than most industry
professionals, which leads them to believe
that something shady has been going on.
The police took financial records,
computers, media devices, auto loan
contracts, sales agreements, credit
applications, etc.
There have also been numerous complaints
from customers stating that the company
defrauded them, saying they had auto loans
when they didn’t, or turning back the
odometer, and filing false documentation.
