According to Insurancewide.com, many UK residents are actually paying too much money for their car insurance, and they are paying for the wrong kind of car insurance. The company has done an insurance comparison, and they have discovered that many people are paying too much for third party fire and theft, and should be paying for comprehensive auto insurance instead.

James Harrison, the website’s Chief Executive, says that older drivers who own an older car that is worth less than £2,500 should purchase third party coverage. He says that makes perfect sense for those drivers.

However, Harrison went on to say that unfortunately, younger drivers are also opting to purchase the third party car insurance as well, because they have limited funds or are driving high performance cars. Because of their age and the type of cars, they are paying more for the coverage.

Harrison says that drivers that don’t use their cars as much, or are diligent about locking them, should buy comprehensive auto insurance instead. He says that it still covers third party fire and theft, only you will pay less.

Many drivers are currently paying an average of £500 and £700 for their car insurance premiums and instead they could be paying £400 to £500 by getting comprehensive auto insurance.
