Insurance
Many people don’t think
about purchasing travel insurance when
they go on vacation, however, those same
people wish they had it should something
go wrong. Check to see where you are
headed, and make sure that you are getting
the right insurance for your specific
trip.
1. Check on your benefits. Look at the
quotes of the products, what it covers,
what the exclusions are, and if there is a
full refund or not if the policy is not
what you need.
2. Plan your trip well, especially if you
are going abroad, for you can usually get
discounts or a multi-trip policy if you
are going more than once. This saves you
money.
3. Look at other options that might be
available. If you get yours as part of a
deal from your travel agent, price things
out there as well as somewhere else, for
you might end up getting a better deal
somewhere else.
4. Carry their international helpline with
you everywhere you go, as well as a copy
of the policy.
5. Order medical coverage as well,
especially when overseas. Check into an
E111 agreement, which will cover all
emergencies, although not usually routine
care.
You should also look into rental car
insurance, backpacking insurance, it
depends on what your trip will hold for
you. Make sure the policy covers all
family members traveling with you, as a
rule it will be cheaper than purchasing
insurance for all of you individually.
Book your insurance, whether it be rental
car insurance, vacation, medical, etc.
right after you book your trip. This way,
you can make sure that your cancellation
insurance is prepped and ready to go just
in case it is not an illness on the trip
that befalls you, rather an illness or
accident that happens before you go.
