The San Antonio based
auto insurance company United Services
Automobile Association or USAA has
announced a rate cut on their policies for
Massachusetts residents. They say that
their members will see roughly a 15% cut
in their auto insurance rates starting
next month.
The announcement comes in regards to a
regulatory change that the Massachusetts
Division of Insurance implemented last
year that will allow private auto
insurance companies to set their own
rates. Prior to the passing of this
change, the Insurance Commissioner set the
auto insurance rates for all insurance
companies for the past thirty years.
There are several companies implementing
changes, so USAA is not the only one, but
those that currently have their auto
insurance through the company should be
thrilled. The rate change will be
implemented next Tuesday, April 1st.
Those that are due for renewal have
already started seeing their renewal
statements with the reduction noted on
their bill. As annual auto insurance
policies are renewed, consumers will
continue to see rate cuts across the
board.
The company says that this is just one of
the “tangible benefits” in having a
“competitive insurance market.”
Fortunately for those that have auto
insurance, they are the ones who truly
benefit from it.
