North Carolina the Place for Auto
Insurance
Auto insurance premiums have a lot to do
with where you live. If you live in a
small suburb, or out in the country, you
will pay less for auto insurance than if
you live in the city itself. If you live
in a high crime area you will pay more
for auto insurance. Heck, even the state
as a whole determines how much you pay.
If you live somewhere like New Jersey or
New York, you are going to pay more for
auto insurance than any other state in
the union. But if you live other, more
rural states, you will find that your
auto insurance is not all that bad at
all.
North Carolina is priding itself on the
fact that they are the eighth lowest in
the country as far as auto insurance
goes. Drivers there will pay an average
of $591.11 each year for their
insurance. As someone who pays $900+ a
year for their auto insurance, it makes
one want to move to North Carolina! And
they are not even the lowest – that
would be North Dakota who’s residents
pay an average of $511.79 a year. Iowa
comes in behind them with $517.62 per
year.
North Carolina is also one of the only
states to ensure that standard across
the board rates are set by the auto
insurance companies for their residents.
The auto insurance has a cap that can be
charged that is set by the state
insurance commissioner. Those companies
that want to deviate from that rate that
is set can do so if they offer
discounts, but only then.
