Tax Credits
May Help with Auto Loans
The auto industry has
been feeling the pinch lately – with house
pricing being what they are, the trickle
down effect has led to less car loans
being sold. Many people just cannot afford
the interest on the auto loan, and are
either paying cash, or not buying at all.
Now they have a new predicament, how to
get them to buy more cars in addition to
what they should have been buying.
The auto industry has been trying to come
up with ways to get the American people to
buy more fuel-efficient cars. Not only do
more need to be made, but people need to
purchase them as well. The auto makers are
now trying to figure out if they can get
Congress to broaden tax credits as that
may be a way to get them to buy more.
Some are calling for diesel cars and
trucks to be included in the tax credits,
others are saying it should only be hybrid
cars included. But some think that by
adding in the diesel cars and trucks to
the tax break, that they will encourage
people to accept a “new market for
biodiesel and renewable diesel.”
The industry thinks that if they are able
to offer incentives to car buyers that it
might convince some that are considering
purchasing cars to actually take out a car
loan and do so. Either way, the addition
of more eco-friendly cars is good for the
environment either way. They say that
right now hybrids cost more than regular
cars, so it is going to be tough to
convince people to purchase them,
especially when they are having a hard
time convincing consumers to purchase
regular cars.
