Women’s
Auto Insurance Increasing
Due to a new measure in
Europe, women’s car insurance rates could
start to increase significantly.
Currently, women pay less than men for car
insurance in Europe, as well as the US.
This is because men cause more accidents
than women, so they are considered a
higher risk. Therefore, men’s car
insurance rates are higher than women’s.
However, that is about to change in
Europe. They have recently introduced a
measure that makes all things equal
economically – Europe’s government wants
all things changed so that all economic
matters will be equally based. Therefore
things like car insurance, as well as
health and life insurances, would increase
for women.
The insurance companies say that
economically speaking it just isn’t the
same thing. They say that men’s rates are
higher because they have earned higher
rates, and that this is not the case for
women. They say that they will have to
increase their car insurance policies by
about EUR 700 for women. They say that
this drastic increase could lead to many
women not being able to afford their car
insurance.
They say that since women cause 14% less
accidents on the road, on average their
car insurance is only EUR 450 a year,
while a man’s is EUR 1,200. The measure
has not become final yet, they are voting
on it this week, and the car insurance
companies are hoping that it does not
pass.
