New Car
Loans Not Impossible, But Difficult
It is not
impossible to get a new car loan, but it
is harder than it used to be. There for a
while the country was living high on the
hog and borrowing money that they couldn’t
afford to pay back – but kept getting it
as long as the lenders would give it to
them. However, everything then crashed
around them and the auto loan lenders are
now hesitant to give out any money at all.
Across the country those that normally
would not have had a problem getting an
auto loan are finding that it is difficult
at best to get one now. Credit unions are
reporting an increase in the number of
people looking to get auto loans through
them as they have found that many of the
dealerships just are not lending money to
clients.
To say that they are gun shy is putting it
mildly – and consumers know this. In many
cases those that might get approved for a
car loan are not even trying for fear that
the mark will be on their credit – thus
making it worse than it is. Auto loan
lenders say that they cannot afford to
give car loans to those that might not pay
them back, as they are already up to their
necks in loans that are not being paid and
cars needing to be repossessed.
They say that they are trying to be smart
about who they give auto loans to so as to
not make matters worse. But depending on
where you go, you can get an auto loan. If
you have terrible credit – no, you are
probably not going to be approved, but
many places are now trying to loosen up a
bit and give some car loans to those that
have pretty good credit – not just those
rated excellent.
