When shopping around for auto insurance you need to look at all of the possibilities before you decide on just one. The auto insurance industry has gotten very competitive as of late, especially with the economy being the way that it has been. The auto insurance industry has taken a real hit, as have all companies, but there are many who have auto insurance that have either chosen not to get insurance any more or they have dropped what they had. They are choosing higher deductibles and less coverage – all of which affects the amount of money that the auto insurance companies make.
 
One thing you need to do is look at pricing over the course of several days. One day one of the biggest might have the best auto insurance quote, while the next day they might be the worst. You want to check them out and see who is averaging the best quotes and see what the pattern might be for when they are offering it. Don’t wait until your policy is just about to expire, start looking ahead of time.
 
You also want to make sure that you are comparing apples with apples instead of apples with oranges. You want to take your current coverage and look at the different companies – it doesn’t make any sense to find out that you got a cheaper rate, but that you also don’t have nearly the coverage that you had before. You can compare them online, which is a very simple way of doing it, or you can call each auto insurance company for a quote.
