Pay Per Mile Auto Insurance
There are a lot of benefits to pay per
mile auto insurance. For those people
who travel very little, it is perfect.
They are not forced to pay for a policy
that says that they might drive 12,000
miles a year, when in reality, they
might not hit that number in 10 years.
Not only that, but they have discovered
that pay per mile auto insurance also
reduces the amount of driving that
people do. They see those numbers
racking up and they are less likely to
drive just for the heck of it. These
people are only driving when they have
to – which is good for other drivers as
it relates to less accidents, and it is
good for the environment.
With most auto insurance premiums set on
a specific number of miles driven a
year, it is no wonder that this pay per
mile plan would seem like a great idea
for those who drive less. For those that
drive more than the fixed plan, they
will end up spending more – or cutting
back on their driving. Both of which are
good for the auto insurance company. But
even with studies showing the amount of
money that people would save, very few
states are looking to take a chance on
this policy. They say that they do not
see many of their auto insurance clients
wanting to take a chance on a policy
like this.
In Texas they are at least trying it out
– and those that have tried it like it.
They have the Mile Meter auto insurance
plan where you buy one thousand to six
thousand miles every six months. If you
go over you can purchase more and if you
are under they will be credited toward
your next purchase.
