The best advice that the auto insurance industry can give their policyholders at this time of the year is to not be stupid. The fact of the matter is that in this economy many policyholders are changing their auto insurance so that they are either paying higher amounts and their deductibles or they are canceling their auto insurance altogether in order to save some money. Auto insurance companies obviously frown upon eliminating their services altogether.
 
Auto insurance companies say that at this time of year people will find themselves in the car much more than they ever have before. The rest of the year is spent doing normal things and going regular places, but around the holidays people travel much more than they do any other time of the year. The chance of being in an auto accident is much greater than it is at any other time.
 
They recommend that if you are going to change or eliminate your auto insurance policy that you at least wait until after the holidays. They say that the worst thing you can do right now is to change your auto insurance policy and then get into an accident and have to pay out more money this time of year. Instead, they recommend waiting and then evaluating your auto insurance needs after your period of travel has stopped.
 
The auto insurance industry says that there are more cars on the road right now in any other time of the year, so keep yourself safe and keep yourself smart. The chances of being in an accident this time of year are much greater than at any other time.
